Seahawks Men’s Lacrosse Edges Shenandoah for Third Win in a Row

WINCHESTER, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team picked up their third straight win Saturday afternoon (Mar. 4) on the road. Sophomore attackman Aiden Doyle (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) scored four time as St. Mary's College (4-2) earned an 11-8 victory over the Shenandoah University Hornets (0-4).

How It Happened
  • The two sides alternated goals in the first quarter, each team scoring twice to go into the second frame in a 2-2 deadlock. Doyle and senior captain Cal Wilcox (Fallston, Md./Fallston) each found the back of the net in the first 15 minutes.
  • After Shenandoah netted the first goal of the second stanza, the Seahawks rattled off three straight off the sticks of Doyle, junior defenseman Ethan Little (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright), and sophomore attackman Keegan Preis (Upper Falls, Md./Loyola Blakefield) for their first multiple-goal lead of the game, 5-3, with 3:40 remaining in the first half.
  • The game went into halftime tied at 5-5 after the Hornets tallied two in the final 3:06 of the half, including a Logan Clingerman goal with 41 ticks on the clock.
  • St. Mary's put together a 4-0 run that started in the third period and continued into the fourth to put distance between themselves and Shenandoah, 9-5, with 12:37 left in the game. Doyle notched two goals, including a man-down goal, and an assist in the run.
  • Another Clingerman goal 36 seconds later stopped the run briefly before two unassisted Seahawk goals in a 43-second span made it a five-goal game, 11-6, with 4:04 to go.
  • The Hornets tacked on the final two scores of the game in the final 1:48, including a man-up goal with 13 second left.
