SALISBURY, Md. – Fifth-year forward
Zack Glime (Annapolis, Md./Key) matched his career-best of two goals Friday afternoon to lead the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team to a 4-1 season-opening win. St. Mary's College (1-0) improves to 2-0-1 in its last three season-openers after downing King's (Pa.) College (0-1) on the first day of the Elmer Lord Tournament at Salisbury University.
How It Happened
- Glime scored his first goal of the afternoon in the 20th minute, breaking the scoreless draw off an assist from junior defender Ryan Barkdoll (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson).
- Sophomore midfielder Jack Nelson (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) doubled St. Mary's lead 12 minutes later as Nelson finished a pass from senior forward Casey Cruz (Great Mills, Md./Leonardtown) for his first goal as a Seahawk.
- King's was able to cut its deficit in half before the break as Chris Vollrath found the back of the net in the 39th minute.
- Following halftime, Glime picked up his second tally just seven minutes into the second frame connecting on a ball from senior forward Jason Caro (Lanham, Md./Good Counsel).
- Junior forward Elliot Hodges (Rockville, Md./Avalon) joined in the scoring fun with an unassisted goal with less than eight minutes remaining in the game.

- The Seahawks dominated the offensive play with a 24-3 shot advantage while doubling up King's, 10-5, in corner kicks.
