ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Senior captain
Audrey Dickens (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) propelled the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team to their fourth victory Wednesday afternoon with her first goal of the season. St. Mary's College (4-2) returned to the win column with a 1-0 shutout of Stevenson University (5-2) in non-conference action.
How It Happened
- The deciding goal was scored at 6:22 of the first period off the Seahawks' first penalty corner of the contest. Sophomore forward Brenna Ziegler (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) inserted the ball up to junior captain Charlotte Horn (Schnecksville, Md./Northwestern Lehigh) who then dished it off to Dickens for the finish and 1-0 lead.
- Stevenson had two offensive opportunities in the 10th minute with one shot being blocked and the other being saved by first-year goalie Caroline McDonald (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora).
- In the second quarter, St. Mary's outshot the visitors, 3-1, but Jordan Vradenburgh made two saves to keep it a one-goal game at halftime.
- Shots were two to one in the third frame in favor of the Seahawks but Eve Vickery, who started the second half in goal for Stevenson, turned away both attempts to keep her team within one.
- The final frame belonged to the Mustangs, who posted a 5-1 margin, peppering McDonald in the final 11 minutes. McDonald was up to the challenge as she denied all five attempts.

- McDonald tied her career-best with six saves this afternoon, recording her third shutout of the season.
