Frederick, MD- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Volleyball team (2-2) traveled to Fredrick, Maryland to compete with the Hood College Blazers (2-3). The Seahawks fell to the Blazers in four sets.

How it Happened

The Seahawks started the first set out strong by creating a four point lead immediately. However, the Blazers bounced back and kept the set within a few points. The battle continued on until the Blazers slipped away at the end with a win in the first set (28-26).

The second set was where the Seahawks shined through. The Seahawks dominated through the entire second set with kills by Ellie Matthews (Hollywood, MD) and Alayna Sievert (Lusby, MD). The Seahawks downed the Blazers 25-19 in the second set.

The Blazers were not deterred by the second set performance. While both sets were only won by two points, the Blazers took both the third set (25-23) and the fourth set (25-22) to win the match.

The Raleigh Invitational will feature Central College, Meredith College, Virginia Wesleyan University, and Bridgewater College. The Seahawks will take on the Dutch of Central College on Friday, September 8th at 2:00 PM.
