CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team clinched a spot in the 2024 United East Conference Field Hockey Championship Tournament with their shutout victory Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 16). How It Happened

- SMCM was held shotless in the second quarter and headed into halftime with the one-goal advantage.
- St. Mary's College doubled its lead at the end of the third quarter as Shermeyer this time passed the ball from the right side of the circle to a wide-open Watkins, who finished for her second score of the game.
- First-year goalkeeper Sophia Kent (Chesterville, Md./Gunston) turned away all three of Wilson's shots in the fourth to keep the hosts off the scoreboard while the Seahawks added another one with 19 seconds left in the game.
