Evans’ 10-Point Game Leads SMCM Men’s Soccer in Conference Road Win

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sophomore forward Lucas Evans (Greenbelt, Md./South River) notched career-bests of four goals and two assists Tuesday night (Oct. 8) to lead the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team to their third United East Conference win. St. Mary's College (4-6-2, 3-0-0 UEC) tallied a 13-0 victory over Gallaudet University (2-9, 1-2 UEC).
 
How It Happened
  • The Seahawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes, scoring three in a two-minute span to claim a three-goal advantage at 19:29 behind two goals from Evans and one from senior forward Alex Ochman (Rockville, Md./Wootton).
  • Evans and sophomore midfielder Christian Johnson (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) scored 28 seconds apart to stretch the lead to 5-0 at 22:37.
  • SMCM headed into halftime with a 7-0 margin following goals from first-year forward William Marbray (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) at 31:05 and fifth-year defender Garrett Bridgwater (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) at 44:52.
  • Marbray and first-year forward Nick Haney (Chesapeake, Md./Northern) each scored twice in the second half while junior midfielder Ryan Cooper (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) handed out three assists as St. Mary's College netted six more goals over the final 45 minutes.
