St. Mary's City, MD. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Soccer Team (16-1-3) hosted Lancaster Bible College (7-6-4) in the United East Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. The Seahawks won in dramatic fashion, edging the Chargers 2-1 in overtime. 

How it Happened

• The Seahawks and Chargers played a tense opening 45 minutes in which neither team found the back of the net. 

• Lancaster Bible out shot St. Mary's 5-1 in the opening half of play. 

• Kyleigh Bland made three huge first half saves for the Seahawks. 

• The Seahawks broke up the 0-0 draw in the 53rd minute. Mia McKenzie beat the Lancaster Bible College goalkeeper to give St. Mary's a 1-0 lead in the second half. Alyssa McLane assisted on the play. 

• Lancaster Bible answered back roughly 20 minutes later in the 75th minute off a Zoe Beers shot that sneaked past Bland to even the game. 

• St. Mary's had a majority of the scoring opportunities in the second half, but could not gain an advantage in regulation. The Seahawks out shot the Chargers 11-2 in the second half, yet the game went to overtime with both teams scoring one a piece. 

• Both teams recorded two shots to begin the overtime period, but neither were able to cash in on them. Kyleigh Bland made a save on the Chargers first shot of the overtime period. 

• Allie Petryszak would prove to be the hero for the Seahawks. Petryszak netted the game winning goal in the 96th minute off of an Ashlyn Bonner assist to advance the Seahawks to the next round.
