St. Mary’s College Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Opens Season in South Carolina

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's outdoor track & field team kicked off the 2024 campaign at the three-day Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational (Mar. 14-16). St. Mary's College posted a 20th-place finish in the 33-team field as the Seahawks registered eight school records.

First-year Jillian Zukley (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Outdoor Championships on May 15-16 in the shot put as Zukley made her outdoor season collegiate debut.

Thursday, March 14
10000m Run
  • Senior Stacie Lally (Fallston, Md./Fallston) collected a 10th-place finish in 50:33.91.
 
Javelin Throw
  • Senior Amira Whitaker (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) posted a personal record of 14.50m to take 41st.
 
Friday, March 15
One-Mile Run (Open)
  • First-year Madison Kingsley (White Hall, Md./North Harford) ran a personal record of 6:07.81 to place eighth while first-year Weiya Carter (Towson, Md./Towson) also clocked a personal record, coming in 11th in 6:12.69.
  • First-year Alexis Hodges (Sugarland, Texas/Chopticon [Md.]) claimed 19th with a PR of 7:06.28.
 
100m Hurdles
  • Sophomore Chay'La Rivers (Baltimore, Md./Reach! Partnership) set a school and personal record of 16.98 in the preliminaries to place 11th.
 
400m Dash (Open)
  • Fifth-year Ariat Ojulu (Baltimore, Md./Dundalk) went 13th in 1:07.04 while sophomore Dina Jones (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) finished 25th in 1:10.22.
 
100m Dash
  • Rivers claimed the 38th spot in 12.948 in the preliminaries while junior Chloe Tolson (Waldorf, Md./North Point) ran a personal record of 14.00 for 72nd.
 
800m Run (Open)
  • First-year Kaylee Holston (Sunderland, Md./Huntingtown) finished 11th with a personal record of 2:34.65 while sophomore Pamela Angel-Aguilar (Millersville, Md./Old Mill) came in 30th in 2:58.41.
 
4x800m Relay
  • The foursome of captains Betsy Robey (Kensington, Md./Stone Ridge) and Savannah Owens (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson), first-year Avery Arizzi (Arnold, Md./Broadneck), and senior captain Brittney Douglas (Port Republic, Md./Calvert) took third with a school record time of 10:10.96.
 
4x200m Relay
  • SMCM posted an eighth-place finish with a school record of 1:55.83 behind the efforts of Rivers, Tolson, Jones, and Ojulu.
 
5000m Run
  • Kingsley clocked a 22:45.57 for 38th place.
 
Hammer Throw
  • Zukley notched a 49th-place finish with a personal-best throw of 31.11m while sophomore captain Fladaina Bruno (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) came in 53rd with a personal record of 29.07m.
 
Saturday, March 16
3000m Run
  • Carter added a 23rd-place finish with a personal record of 12:37.54.
 
4x100m Relay
  • Rivers, Tolson, Arizzi, and Ojulu crossed the finish line in 52.75 for 18th place.
 
One-Mile Run (Collegiate)
  • Robey ran a school and personal record of 5:40.58 to take the 21st spot while Holston placed 34th in 5:58.16.
 
400m Dash (Collegiate)
  • Arizzi notched a school record of 1:02.75 to finish 28th.
 
800m Run (Collegiate)
  • Douglas ran a 2:27.04 to cross the finish line in 19th place.
 
400m Hurdles
  • Jones clocked a personal record of 1:20.57 for 33rd place.
 
200m Dash
  • Rivers tied her own school record of 27.00 to finish 54th while Tolson ran a 29.72 for 93rd place.
 
4x400m Relay
  • The quartet of Arizzi, Owens, Ojulu, and Douglas posted a school record of 4:18.02 to finish 11th.
 
Shot Put
  • Zukley led a trio of Seahawks with a sixth-place finish with a school and personal record of 12.27m while Whitaker came in 52nd with a personal-best throw of 8.50m.
  • First-year Safiya Stimely (Linthicum, Md./Broadneck) threw a personal best of 7.62m for 59th.
 
Discus Throw
  • Bruno threw a personal record of 23.41m for 51st while sophomore Nayev Pumphrey (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) had a personal-best throw of 21.46m for 57th place.
