Seahawks Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Finishes 10th at Purple & Gold Invitational

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's outdoor track & field team came in 10th out of 15 teams with 16 points at the Purple & Gold Invitational hosted by Division II West Chester University Saturday (Mar. 23). St. Mary's College registered five personal records as well as four top-8 finishes.
 
How It Happened
  • First-year Jillian Zukley (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) notched a personal record mark of 25.60m in the discus throw to place third. Zukley's throw currently ranks 37th in the Mid-Atlantic region and eighth all-time at St. Mary's College.
  • First-year Safiya Stimely (Linthicum, Md./Broadneck) threw the discus 22.79m for a personal record and to rank 50th in the region. Stimely's mark also ranks 10th all-time.
 
  • Fifth-year Ariat Ojulu (Baltimore, Md./Dundalk) paced the Seahawks in the 400m dash with a fourth-place finish in 1:10.30 while sophomore Dina Jones (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) came in 11th in 1:16.71.
   
  • Senior captain Brittney Douglas (Port Republic, Md./Calvert) led SMCM in the 1500m run with a 13th-place finish in 5:35.35, which ranks 39th in the region.
  • First-year Kaylee Holston (Sunderland, Md./Huntingtown) set a personal record with a time of 5:54.78 for 22nd place while first-year Madison Kingsley (White Hall, Md./North Harford) claimed a personal record of 5:58.35 for 24th place.
  • First-year Alexis Hodges (Sugarland, Texas/Chopticon [Md.]) also tallied a personal record in the 1500m run with a time of 6:38.09 for 34th place.
