ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team saw their two-game win streak snapped Saturday afternoon (Mar. 9). St. Mary's College (3-2) came up short in a 17-10 non-conference road loss to Elizabethtown College (1-3).
How It Happened
- Junior midfielder Nate Hochrein (Towson, Md./Towson) put the Seahawks on the board first, finishing off a pass from senior captain Johnny McGrain (Lutherville-Timonium, Md./Dulaney) at 12:38. Elizabethtown responded with four straight to claim a 4-1 lead over six minutes later. Junior attackman Aiden Doyle (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) stopped the Blue Jay run with an unassisted man-up goal at 4:19.
- Etown put together another big run, scoring six in a row to stake a 10-2 advantage with 10:52 remaining in the third quarter. The Blue Jays, who shutout SMCM in the second frame, owned a 9-2 lead at the halftime.
- St. Mary's College ended its nearly 24-minute-long scoring drought with back-to-back goals in a 17-second span as defensemen Brandon Dabkowski (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) and Jeremy Heath (Chester, Md./Kent Island) each found the back of the net. The defensive duo sparked a 4-1 run by the Seahawks, closing the gap to 11-6 with 6:19 to go in the third. Etown ended the third with a four-goal spree for a nine-goal margin.
- The Seahawks continued to battle and opened the fourth quarter with four consecutive goals to come within five (15-10) with 4:39 remaining in the game.
- Despite winning two of the next three face-offs, SMCM generated just two shots – one saved and one high – and turned the ball over twice.

- St. Mary's College edged the Blue Jays in shots, 39-37, and owned a +4.0-turnover margin.
- Etown gained 16 of 28 face-off wins and narrowly won the ground ball battle, 25-24. The Blue Jays also posted a .500-man-up offense (3-6).
