Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Sophomore attackman
Joshua Martel (Linthicum, Md./North County) matched his career-high in goals Saturday afternoon (Mar. 16) to return the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team to win column. Martel put up five goals as St. Mary's College (4-2) picked up a 16-5 non-conference road victory over Bridgewater (Va.) College (3-6).
How It Happened
- The Seahawks did all their damage in the first half, recording back-to-back six-goal quarters to own a 12-3 lead at halftime.
- Bridgewater netted the first goal of the game at 9:38 before SMCM fired off 10 straight for a 10-1 advantage at 9:10 of the second period.
- Martel notched the only goal of the third frame at 10:59 as he finished off a pass from junior attackman Keegan Preis (Upper Falls, Md./Loyola Blakefield).
- St. Mary's College edged the Eagles, 3-2, in the fourth quarter as Martel found the back of the net twice and junior defensive midfielder Quinnten Hatfield (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) tallied his second of the season.

- The Seahawks outshot Bridgewater, 45-39, while notching an impressive +15-turnover margin as senior defensemen Brandon Dabkowski (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) and Ethan Little (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) led the charge with four caused turnovers each.
- Bridgewater dominated face-off X, winning all but two of the 25 face-offs attempted, but the Eagles did not take care of the ball, committing 25 turnovers.

- First-year Ty Grove (Finksburg, Md./Saint John's Catholic Prep) made his first career start and registered career-bests of 11 saves and seven ground balls plus one caused turnover.
Bridgewater Game Notes
- Drew Huber paced the Eagles with two goals while Gabriel Alexander scooped up 20 ground balls as Alexander won 21-of-23 face-offs.
- Gabe Wallman turned away 16 Seahawk shots in Bridgewater's fourth straight loss.
