ST. MARY'S COLLEGE, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team stepped out of conference play Tuesday night (April 16) to take on the No. 1 team in the country. St. Mary's College (10-4) saw its three-game win streak snapped with an 18-5 loss to top-ranked Salisbury University (15-0).
How It Happened
- Salisbury took a two-goal lead within the first six minutes with a pair of goals a minute apart. Sophomore attackman Joshua Martel (Linthicum, Md./North County) and senior defenseman Brandon Dabkowski (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) connected for the Seahawks' first goal of the game, cutting the SU lead in half at 7:54.
- The Sea Gulls then went on a 10-0 run to claim a 12-1 advantage at 14:14 of the third quarter. SMCM scored two of the next three goals to stop the bleeding and close the gap to 13-3 at 10:28. Salisbury headed into the fourth up 13 after tallying the final three goals of the third.
- In the fourth period, each side scored twice with junior midfielder Drew Goldscheider (Pikesville, Md./Beth Tfiloh) and first-year Declan Horton (University Park, Md./DeMatha) netting the goals for St. Mary's College.

- The Sea Gulls outshot SMCM, 56-20, while posting a 38-21 margin in ground balls.
- Salisbury dominated face-off X, winning 19-of-27, and killed off all five of St. Mary's College's extra-man opportunities.

- First-year Ty Grove (Finksburg, Md./Saint John's Catholic Prep) started the game and finished with three stops plus two ground balls and one caused turnover. Junior Cullen McKay (Urbana, Md./Urbana) came in relief at the start of the second half, collecting nine saves and one loose ball pickup over the final 30 minutes.

- Luke Nestor (5g, 1a) and Jude Brown (4g, 2a), a Seahawk alum, each tallied a game-high six points to help keep the Sea Gulls undefeated.
