St. Mary's City, MD-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Baseball Team (6-14) hosted the Wildcats of Penn College (15-15) to kick off a three game weekend series. The Seahawks defeated the Wildcats 8-2 in the first game of the weekend. 

How It Happened 

• Trevor Smith got the Seahawks on the board with a two run homer in the bottom of the second after Ian Walters reached base on a double. 

• Trevor Smith kept up his fast start in the third inning. Smith connected on a two out RBI double that sent home Cole Tarleton, Chase O'Dell, and Derrick Booker to give St. Mary's a 5-0 lead. 

• The Seahawks added their sixth run of the game after Garrett Pullium scored on a wild pitch. Pullium tripled earlier in the inning to set himself up in scoring position.

• The Wildcats scored two runs in the top of the sixth.

• The Seahawks iced the game in the bottom of the eighth inning when they added their seventh and eighth runs of the game. Aaron Wathen tripled down the line to score Ian Walters. The next at bat, Garrett Pullium recorded a sac fly to send home Aaron Wathen from third. 

• The Seahawks pulled out the 8-2 victory. 

Inside the Box Score 

• Trevor Smith paced the Seahawks offensively with two hits and five RBI's.

• Aaron Wathen and Garrett Pullium each finished with a hit and a RBI.

• Tommy Brill pitched six innings while striking out six batters and giving up two earned runs. Nick Russo earned the save pitching three innings and only giving up one hit. .
