St. Mary's City, MD-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Baseball Team (10-17) concluded their three game series with Penn State Berks (7-25) by picking up a two game sweep in a Saturday doubleheader. The Seahawks took the first game 8-2 and the second 16-4.

How It Happened (Game 1)

• The Seahawks got on the board with a two run bottom of the second. Layne Lesko tripled to send home Trevor Smith who was walked earlier in the inning. Garrett Pullium singled the next at bat to send home Lesko from third to put the second run of the day on the scoreboard.

• St. Mary's kept the offense rolling into the bottom of the third. Derrick Booker, Chase O'Dell and Adrian Auber all singled to load the bases. This opened the door for a Trevor Smith to connect on an RBI double to send home two runners. Aaron Wathen connected on an RBI single the next at bat and Kyle Cantazro closed off the scoring in the inning shortly thereafter with an RBI single of his own to make it 6-0. 

• Penn State Berks added one run in the top of the fourth.

• Cole Tarleton scored a run off of a triple in the bottom of the fourth to make it 7-2.

• The Nittany Lions scored another run in the top of the fifth.

• The Seahawks scored one more insurance run in the bottom of the sixth off of a Cole Tarleton RBI double. 

• The Seahawks took game one 8-2.

Inside the Box Score (Game 1)

• Cole Tarleton paced the Seahawks in hits with three.

• Trevor Smith and Cole Tarleton both had two RBI's.

• Ryder Chalk pitched all seven innings and only gave up four hits and one earned run while striking out nine.

How It Happened (Game 2)

• Penn State Berks struck first to lead 1-0 after the top of the first.

• The Seahawks scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead.

• St. Mary's added another unearned run in the bottom of the second.

• Chase O'Dell connected on a single to score Aaron Wathen and Layne Lesko to make it 6-1 in the bottom of the third.

• The Seaahwks scored their seventh run of the game on a passed ball in the bottom of the fifth.

• The Nittany Lions scored three runs in the top of the fourth. 

• Derrick Booker, Chase O'Dell, Trevor Smith, and Aaron Wathen all recorded RBI's in the bottom of the fifth to break open the game and make it a 13-4 ball game. 

• St. Mary's sealed a 16-4 victory in the bottom of the sixth after a Cole Tarleton RBI triple and Ian Walters RBI single.

Inside the Box Score (Game 2)

• Chase O'Dell and Trevor Smith each recorded three RBI's.

• Chase O'Dell paced the Seahawks with three hits.

• Erik Thomad went six innings, gave up one earned run, and struck out 12. Nick Russo pitched an inning as well.
