Women's Soccer Downs Rutgers-Camden to go 2-0 in the Seahawk Classic

St. Mary's City, MD. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Soccer Team (2-0) concluded the annual Seahawk Classic with a non-conference matchup with the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers-Camden (0-2). The Seahawks came out on top, 1-0.  

How it Happened

  • The Seahawks and Scarlet Raptors ended the first half of play tied at zero. 

  • Rutgers-Camden out shot St. Mary's 3-1 in the first 45 minutes of play. 

  • Rutgers-Camden put two of their three first half shots on goal.

  • Kyleigh Bland picked up two saves in the opening half.

  • The Seahawks began to generate more offense in the beginning of the second half. Allie Petryszak gave the Seahawks their first shot on goal of the game in the 51st minute, but was turned away by the Rutger Camden goalkeeper.   

  • The Seahawks finally broke through in the 72nd minute with a Brooke Hall goal off of a Makayla Marvray assist to capture the lead.

  • The Seahawks held on to win, 1-0.
