Women's Soccer Defeats Hood, Wins Third Straight

St. Mary's City, MD - The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team (3-0-0) hosted Hood College (0-1-1) for a midweek non-conference matchup. The Seahawks defeated the Blazers 1-0 to claim their third straight victory.

How it Happened

  • St. Mary's wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Gracie Tourangeau found the back of the net just over four minutes into the contest to give the Seahawks the lead.

  • The Seahawks went on to take 13 shot over the course of the opening 45 minutes, putting seven of them on goal. St. Mary's held onto their one goal advantage going into halftime.

  • The St. Mary's defense held Hood to just two first half shots. Kylie Wells made the save on the single Blazer shot on goal.

  • The Seahawks continued to hold the momentum well into the second half. The St. Mary's offense produced ten shots, putting ten on goal.

  • Despite the strong offensive effort, the Seahawks did not add another goal to their final tally.

  • The Seahawk defense shut the door on any Hood comeback attempt, allowing only three second half shots, none of which were on goal.

  • St. Mary's held on to win, 1-0.
