BALTIMORE, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team dropped their second straight game Wednesday night (Sept. 11). St. Mary's College (1-3-1) fell 2-0 at Johns Hopkins University (3-2), who is ranked seventh in this week's United Soccer Coaches Region V poll.
How It Happened
- The Seahawks connected on four shots in the first half (all on target), but Hopkins' Loucas Costeas was up to the challenge in saving all four attempts.
- JHU fired nine first-half shots with sophomore Jordon Eckman (Fallston, Md./Loyola Blakefield) turning away five to preserve a scoreless draw at halftime.
- Less than seven minutes into the second half, the Blue Jays finally broke through as Francis Meyer put one past Eckman for a 1-0 lead at 51:31.
- Johns Hopkins continued to pepper the Seahawk defense with shots and doubled its lead in the 78th minute when Aidan Dunphy found Jason Pan.
- All four of SMCM's second half shots came in the final 11 minutes of the game, including a pair of on frame shots by sophomore forward Franco Reyes (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) in the last two minutes.

- The Seahawks earned a 4-3 edge in corner kicks while Hopkins finished the game with a 17-8 (11-7 on goal) shot advantage.
St. Mary's College
- Eckman collected a career-best nine saves in the loss.
- Reyes, senior forward Abdoul Anounkou (Togo/Springbrook [Md.]), and sophomore midfielder Braden Kindred (Olney, Md./Sherwood) paced SMCM with two shots each.
Johns Hopkins
- Pan and Ian Whamond each recorded a game-best three shots to lead the Blue Jays.
- Costeas ended the night with seven stops.
