Women's Soccer Keeps Winning Ways Going with a 2-0 Shut Out of Stevenson

St. Mary's City, MD. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Soccer Team (5-0-1) hosted the Mustangs of Stevenson University (1-2-1) for a midweek non-conference matchup. The Seahawks defeated the Mustangs 2-0.

How it Happened

  • The Seahawks found the back of the net just under 10 minutes into the match thanks to an unassisted goal by Allie Petryszak to give them a 1-0 lead.

  • Lightning struck twice in a matter of minutes for St. Mary's, as they added another tally just 10 minutes later.

  • Megan Rusk tallied her first goal of the year on a Gracie Tourangeau assist to build the Seahawk lead to two.

  • St. Mary's outshot Stevenson 8-1 in the first half. The Seahawk defense did not allow a shot on goal in the opening 45 minutes.

  • The Mustang offense began to wake up in the second half. Stevenson's offense generated several quality looks in the second half, but Seahawk goalkeeper Kyleigh Bland was up to the task.

  • Bland  finished with four saves, all in the second half.

  • Stevenson out shot St. Mary's 9-3 in the second half, but the Seahawks would hold them scoreless the remainder of the contest to claim a 2-0 victory.
