St. Mary's City, MD. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Soccer Team (5-1-1) hosted the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets (3-1) for a Saturday non-conference matchup. The Seahawks fell to the Yellow Jackets, 2-1.

The Yellow Jackets opened the game hot and jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead.

Lora Bertram scored in the 8th minute, while Lauren Brokaw found the back of the net in the 15th minute for Randolph-Macon.Â

The Seahawks settled in and generated quality scoring opportunities throughout the rest of the half. Despite the growing scoring opportunities, St. Mary's forced the Randolph-Macon goalkeeper to make only one first half save.Â

St. Mary's continued to chip away offensively and eventually found the back of the net in the 63rd minute. Allie Petryszak put herself in a great position after Flor Katz-Starr shot was blocked in her direction. Petryszak played the ball off the rebound and snuck it in the bottom left corner past the Yellow Jacket goalkeeper to trim it to a one goal deficit.Â

Kyleigh Bland and the Seahawk defense were able to keep the Yellow Jacket attack under control and gave the Seahawk offense plenty of opportunities to tie the game.Â

The best opportunity to even the game for the Seahawks came in the 66th minute when Megan Rusk took a free kick just above the box and saw her shot narrowly get turned away by the Randolph-Macon Keeper in the bottom left corner.Â
