Sparkill, N.Y. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's indoor track and field team competed at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. for the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invitational. The Seahawks competed against a Division I,II,III field.
How It Happened:
- The top Seahawk in the 60m dash was led by Chay'La Rivers with a time of 8.42 in a strong field earning 42nd place.
- Chay'La Rivers finished with a time on 9.58 taking 15th in the 60m hurdles. Rivers' earned both a new personal record and a new St. Mary's school record.
- Three Seahawks competed in the 200m and were led by Chay'La Rivers earning a time of 28.13 and a 44th finish in a large field.
- The top three Seahawks in the 500m dash were led by Avery Arizzi finishing in 1:24.60 in 17th place. Arizzi broke both a new school record and personal record. Mileah Cotton followed just behind in 1:26.24 in 22nd place. Dami Akinsanya rounded out the top three in 1:32.42 taking 33rd.
- Elise Geiger performed in the 800m event finishing in 3:19.19 taking 41st place in a strong field.
- The top Seahawk in the 1 Mile was led by Madison Kingsley earning 33rd in 6:06.62. Kingsley earned a personal record.
- The Seahawks competed in the 4000m Distance Medley Relay with a team of Mileah Cotton, Rocksann Smith, Avery Arizzi, and Madison Kingsley in a time of 14:02.50.
- Chay'La Rivers earned a 4.49m jump in the women's Long Jump.
- Rocksann Smith finished with a 10.43 meter jump earning 14th place in the Triple Jump event, breaking the St. Mary's record and a new personal best.
- The top Seahawk in the Shot Put were led by 4th place finisher Jillian Zukley with a throw of 11.83 meters. Zukley having already earned the qualifying standard in the Shot Put to the 2025 AARTFC in the first meet of the 2024-2025 season. Fladaina Bruno earned 7.64m. Jessica Satz threw 6.63m for a new personal record
- Jillian Zukley led the way for the Seahawks with a throw of 11.21 meters in the Weight Throw. Fladania Bruno and Rocksann Smith rounded out the top three Seahawks with 11.15 meters and 9.45 meters respectively. Bruno and Smith each gained a new personal record. Finishing the top five Hawks were Selina Sosa and Jessica Satz with 7.83m and 6.36m respectively. Sosa and Satz both earned new personal bests.
