Reading, PA-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Basketball Team (8-6) hit the road to take on Penn State Berks (0-12) in another United East Conference Contest. The Seahawks defeated the Lions 78-58.

St. Mary's led 17-14 after the opening 10 minutes of play. The Seahawks had a balanced offensive attack that featured six different point scorers. Sam Blaylock closed out the opening quarter on a high note for St. Mary's, cashing in on a jumper that allowed them to hold a three point advantage.

The second quarter was all Seahawks. St. Mary's was able to outscore Penn State Berks 29-8 going into the half. An eight point run in the middle of the quarter that featured two three pointers from Sam Blaylock and Marley Saunders helped propel the Seahawks into a sizable lead. St. Mary's was also able to end the quarter on another scoring run, this time to the tune of seven points as the Seahawks led 46-22.Â

The Seahawks were able to grow their lead to as large as 28 in the third quarter following a Samantha Miller layup. Penn State Berks would begin to their rhythm, but St. Mary's still held a 27 point lead going into the final quarter.Â

St. Mary's scored the first four points of the fourth quarter, all by Keira Mason, as the Seahawks grew their lead to the largest it had been all night, 31 points. Penn State Berks once again began to find a little rhythm offensively, but it was far little, too late. The Seahawks went on to win 78-58.Â
