Reading, Pa. – St. Mary's College of Maryland women's indoor track and field team travelled to Reading, Pa. for the Alvernia Winter Invite hosted by Alvernia University. The Seahawks competed against both Division II and III teams, setting both school and personal records.
How It Happened:
- Rocksann Smith ran in the 60m Prelims in a time of 8.18. Smith broke the St. Mary's school record and set a new personal record.
- The three Seahawks in the 200m were led by Chay'La Rivers placing 24th with a time of 28.91.
- Three Seahawks competed in the 400m event, led by 16th place Avery Arizzi in 1:06.36.
- Mileah Cotton earned a new personal best in the 800m Run. Cotton placed 5th with a time of 2:29.53.
- The 3000 meter was run by Ariana Lecouras in a time of 12:46.59 taking a 20th place finish.
- Rocksann Smith finished in 14th with a height of 1.45 meters in the High Jump event, tying the personal record. Chay'La Rivers jumped 1.35m, also tying their personal record.
- Chay'La Rivers finished with a jump of 8.96 meters in the Triple Jump Prelims.
- The top three Seahawks in the Shot Put were led by 3rd place finisher Jillian Zukley with a throw of 11.72 meters. Rocksann Smith set a personal best with a throw of 8.68 meters. Rounding out the top three is Safi Stimely with a throw of 8.59m.
- Jillian Zukley broke the St. Mary's school record in the Weight Throw with a personal record throw of 13.75 meters in the finals earning a 4th place finish. Safi Stimely, Rocksann Smith, and Selina Sosa all threw personal bests with throws of 9.91m, 9.76m, and 8.03m respectively in the Prelims.
