Lancaster, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team continued its unbeaten run in United East play with a strong second-half performance, defeating Lancaster Bible College 2–0 on Saturday afternoon at Willis & Martha Herr Stadium.
With the victory, the Seahawks improved to 8–4–2 overall and 5–0–0 in conference play, while the Chargers dropped to 7–4 (2–1 United East).
After a scoreless first half, St. Mary's broke through in the 57th minute when Ella Raines found the back of the net off assists from Allie Petryszak and Ashlyn Bonner. The Seahawks doubled their lead late in the 83rd minute as Brooke Hall converted a cross from Maddison Spradlin to seal the win.
Defensively, the Seahawks were outstanding once again, recording their fourth shut out in conference play.. Goalkeeper Kyleigh Bland made six saves to earn her eighth win of the season, while the defensive uni limited Lancaster Bible to just six shots on goal.
St. Mary's outshot the Chargers 14–11, including a 7–4 advantage in corner kicks, controlling possession for much of the second half.
The Seahawks will look to extend their perfect United East record when they travel to face Penn State Berks on Wednesday, October 15, at 7:30 p.m.
