Reading, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak in United East play Wednesday night, earning a 2–1 road victory over Penn State Berks at Berks Turf Field.
With the win, the Seahawks improved to 9–4–2 overall and 6–0–0 in the United East, sitting in first place in the conference standings.
St. Mary's jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first half behind tallies from Allie Petryszak and Ashlyn Bonner. Petryszak opened the scoring in the 18th minute, finishing off a feed from Bonner for her third goal of the season. Bonner doubled the advantage just before halftime, converting a setup from Sidney Shaw to make it 2–0.
The Nittany Lions pulled one back in the 79th minute, but the Seahawks' back line held firm to preserve the win. Goalkeeper Kyleigh Bland made three saves to secure her ninth victory of the season, while the Seahawk defense anchored a back line that limited Berks to just four shots on goal.
