St. Mary’s College Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Penn State Brandywine, 4-0

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team earned its second straight United East win in commanding fashion Wednesday night, blanking Penn State Brandywine 4-0 at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium. With the victory, the Seahawks move to 5-4-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Lions fall to 5-2-1 (1-1 United East).

The Seahawks struck early when Keira O'Neail found the back of the net in the seventh minute to give St. Mary's the lead. Despite relentless pressure — 21 first-half shots — the score stayed 1-0 into the break thanks to strong goalkeeping from Penn State Brandywine's Jasmin Alvarez, who finished with 10 saves.

St. Mary's pulled away in the second half. Just after the restart, Makayla Marvray doubled the lead with help from Gracie Tourangeau in the 46th minute. Maddison Spradlin added her third goal of the season in the 59th minute to make it 3-0. Megan Rusk capped the scoring late in the 80th minute, assisted by Ella Raines.

The Seahawks dominated statistically, outshooting the Lions 36-3 and earning a 13-3 edge in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Kyleigh Bland posted the shutout without being forced to make a save, as the St. Mary's defense limited Penn State Brandywine to just three total shots.

St. Mary's will return home on Saturday, October 4, hosting Keystone College in a United East matchup at 3:30 p.m. at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium.
