Abington, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team capped off a historic regular season on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Penn State Abington 1–0 to finish undefeated in United East Conference play for the first time in program history.
The victory also marked a major milestone for Head Coach Peter Krech, who earned his 100th career win at the helm of the Seahawks. Krech, now in his 12th season, owns a career record of 100–83–28.
With the win, the Seahawks improved to 11–4–2 overall and 8–0–0 in the United East, completing their first-ever perfect conference campaign. St. Mary's had previously gone unbeaten in league play twice before — 6–0–2 in 2021 and 7–0–1 in 2024 — but this year's team became the first to post a flawless record.
After a scoreless first half, the Seahawks broke through in the 53rd minute when Maddison Spradlin finished off a perfectly placed cross from Gracie Tourangeau, with Ella Raines adding a secondary assist. From there, St. Mary's defense locked down, holding Penn State Abington to just three total shots.
Goalkeeper Kyleigh Bland recorded another shutout, making three saves to secure the clean sheet. Allie Petryszak led the team with four shots, while Tourangeau and Raines each registered one shot on goal.
The Seahawks outshot the Nittany Lions 11–3 and held a 6–4 edge in corner kicks in another composed and organized road performance.
With their historic victory, St. Mary's enters postseason play riding an eight-match winning streak.
The Seahawks return to nonconference action this Saturday, October 25 at 12:00 p.m., traveling to face regional rival Mary Washington.
