St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's volleyball team picked up another United East victory Wednesday night, sweeping Penn State Brandywine 3–0 (25–17, 25–23, 25–15) inside the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena.
The Seahawks improved to 12–12 overall and 6–1 in United East play, while the Nittany Lions fell to 10–10 (4–3 United East).
St. Mary's hit an efficient .264 as a team, with Maya Mauro leading the way with nine kills on a .316 hitting percentage, while Julia Bobrowski and Erianna Mendieta each added seven kills apiece. Sanaa Porter provided a spark off the bench with five kills and a team-best .714 hitting percentage, while Faith Shockley tallied four kills and three total blocks.
Setters Camilla Galeano and Lauren Panageotou kept the offense in rhythm, combining for 27 assists and four service aces, while libero Stella Marrero anchored the back row with 11 digs and two aces.
The Seahawks controlled the match from start to finish, hitting .379 in the opening set and closing out the third on a 9–2 run to secure the sweep.
St. Mary's will look to keep its conference momentum going when the Seahawks travel to Gallaudet University this Saturday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. for another key United East matchup.
