Washington, D.C. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's volleyball team pushed conference leader Gallaudet to four sets on Saturday morning, but ultimately fell 3–1 (23–25, 25–9, 25–20, 25–18) at the Field House.
The Seahawks opened strong, hitting .250 in the first set while edging out a tight 25–23 win to take an early match lead. However, the Bison — undefeated in United East play — responded by capturing the next three sets.
Maya Mauro led the offense with 15 kills and added six digs and two blocks, while Sanaa Porter delivered one of her best performances of the season with 10 kills on a .333 hitting percentage and two blocks. Faith Shockley added six kills and a team-high five blocks at the net.
Setter Camilla Galeano guided the attack with 20 assists and a team-high 14 digs, while Stella Marrero contributed 14 digs and three aces from the back row.
As a team, the Seahawks posted 10 total blocks and six service aces, while battling through extended rallies against the Bison. Gallaudet finished the match hitting .314, using late-set runs to close out sets three and four.
St. Mary's (12–13, 6–2 United East) returns home to the Michael P. O'Brien ARC Arena on Tuesday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m., hosting Penn State Berks in its final United East match of the regular season.
