Blair Pours in 21 as Seahawks Men’s Basketball Falls to Salisbury

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – First-year guard Korey Blair (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) put up a career-best 21 points as the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team stepped out of United East Conference play Wednesday night (Dec. 12). St. Mary's College (3-4) dropped a 77-66 decision to in-state rival Salisbury University (4-6).

How It Happened
  • The Seahawks opened with a 3-0 run following an old-fashioned three-point play by sophomore James Crimaudo (Riva, Md./South River) at 19:23 to give the hosts their biggest lead of the contest.
  • Scoring was back and forth over the next three minutes before SU broke a 7-7 tie with a 16-8 run to stake a 23-15 advantage with 9:17 remaining in the half.
  • SMCM briefly reclaimed the lead behind consecutive three-pointers from Blair for a 34-31 margin at 1:48; however, Salisbury headed into the locker room with a one-point lead following a 6-2 burst to end the half.
  • The Sea Gulls took control early in the second half with a 9-2 stretch and went on to establish a multi-possession lead throughout the final eight minutes.

  • SU outrebounded the Seahawks, 44-31, including grabbing 20 offensive boards which led to 16 second chance points.
  • Salisbury dominated the interior, posting a 44-24 margin in paint scoring.
