St. Mary’s College Takes on George Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team played its second and final exhibition game of the season Monday afternoon, facing Division I George Washington University of the Atlantic 10 Conference at the Charles E. Smith Center in front of a crowd of 1,868. The game, which does not count towards St. Mary's College's overall record, ended in a 97-40 victory for George Washington (9-4).
 
How It Happened
  • George Washington opened the game with a 10-0 run before senior captain JD Salo (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) connected on a two-point jumper for the Seahawks' first points of the game four minutes in.
  • The Revolutionaries rolled to a 60-15 halftime advantage as GWU shot 69.7-percent from the field, including 8-of-15 from downtown (61.5%).
  • SMCM played all 12 eligible players in the second half with the George Washington bench just edging the St. Mary's College by one (18-17).

  • The Revolutionaries outrebounded the visitors, 53-27, while finishing the game with a 52.1-field goal percentage.
  • SMCM ended the game shooting 25.4-percent from the court while making 7-of-9 free throws.

  • Sophomore James Crimaudo (Riva, Md./South River) and first-years Khairi Hyde (Gaithersburg, Md./Wootton) and Evan Quintero (Fallston, Md./Gilman) all tallied seven points while Quintero pulled down eight rebounds.
  • Sophomore guard Sekou Bangoura (Olney, Md./Magruder) added six points, three steals, and two boards in 15 minutes as a reserve.

  • Six Revolutionaries scored in double digits.
  • Jean Aranguren notched a double-double of 13 points and 10 assists while Luke Hunger contributed a double-double of 15 caroms and 12 points.
