Seahawks Defeat Piedmont, 59-51, to improve to 8-5

GREENSBORO, N.C. –  The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team earned a 59–51 road victory over Piedmont University on Sunday afternoon at Ragan-Brown Field House, remaining unbeaten in United East play.

The Seahawks (8-5, 2-0 United East) controlled the game from start to finish, never trailing and holding Piedmont to just 10 points in the opening quarter. The Seahawks opened the contest on an 8–0 run and carried an 18–10 advantage after one period.

Olivia Liszt led the Seahawks with a game-high 14 points, adding three assists and four steals. Tramarie Mobray finished with 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Keira Mason provided a strong presence inside with nine points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks.

The Seahawks extended their lead to 33–24 at halftime behind balanced scoring and aggressive defense, forcing 11 Piedmont turnovers in the first half. The Seahawks widened the margin in the third quarter, outscoring the Lions 16–11 and taking their largest lead of the game at 49–32 late in the period.

Piedmont (3-7, 0-2 CCS) made a push in the fourth quarter, trimming the deficit to seven points with under two minutes remaining, but the Seahawks sealed the win at the free-throw line. Liszt converted four late free throws to secure the victory.

Sidney Shaw added eight points, eight rebounds, and two assists for the Seahawks, while Samantha Blaylock contributed seven points and a team-high six assists off the bench. The Seahawks finished with a 46–37 rebounding advantage and scored 22 points off turnovers.

The Seahawks will return to action on Wednesday, January 7th when they travel to Cairn
