St. Mary’s Women’s Basketball Rolls Past Cedar Crest to Stay Unbeaten in United East Play

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball turned in another dominant defensive performance on Saturday afternoon, powering past Cedar Crest, 55–34, inside the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena. With the win, the Seahawks improve to 4–2 overall and 2–0 in United East action, extending their early-season momentum.

The Seahawks controlled the game from the opening tip, holding the Falcons to just two first-quarter points and building a 14–2 lead after 10 minutes. St. Mary's continued to dictate the pace through the first half, using active hands and relentless rebounding to take a 27–8 lead at the break.

Offensively, Olivia Liszt led St. Mary's with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Saffiyah Gibson added 12 points, four assists, and two steals off the bench. Keira Mason delivered a strong all-around effort with 15 points and 13 rebounds, posting a double-double to help anchor the interior.

From long range, Samantha Blaylock provided a spark with 11 points, including three made threes, contributing to the Seahawks' 43 bench points.

Defensively, St. Mary's held Cedar Crest to 21.8% shooting from the field and 7.7% from three, while forcing 30 turnovers and converting those into 20 points on the other end. The Seahawks also dominated the glass with a commanding 67–44 rebounding advantage.

Cedar Crest's offense found its rhythm in the second half, but St. Mary's maintained control throughout, matching every push and never allowing the Falcons within striking distance.

St. Mary's now will take a pause from conference play when they travel to Swathmore Tuesday, December 9th for a 5:00PM tip.
