Ziegler Named to NFHCA National Senior Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior Brenna Ziegler (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) was one of 60 student-athletes to earn a spot on the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Senior Team. This honor celebrates Ziegler's competitive excellence, leadership, and lasting influence within the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey program (NFHCA release).
 
Ziegler is the ninth Seahawk field hockey player to be named to the Senior Team. The other Senior Team members were Charlotte Horn '24, Audrey Dickens '23, Lauriann Parker '13Allie Skiest '11, Emily Smithson '09Amy Skrickus '08, and Melissa Moore '98.
 
The 5-9 forward was the only representative from the United East Conference to gain a spot on the Senior Team.
 
During her four-year career at St. Mary's College, Ziegler notched 55 goals and 31 assists for 141 points while notching 13 game-winning goals in 73 starts. She broke four program records this season as she became the all-time leader in assists (Aug. 30), points (Sept. 10), goals (Sept. 28), and game-winning goals (Oct. 8). Ziegler surpassed Parker for all four records as Parker finished her career with 111 points, 44 goals, 23 assists and 12 game-winning goals.
 
Ziegler joins Horn as the only Seahawk field hockey players to collect four all-region honors. She was a First Team selection in 2023 and 2025 while garnering Second Team awards in 2022 and 2024. Ziegler also picked up the 2021 Atlantic East Conference Rookie of the Year and the 2022 Atlantic East Player of the Year titles.
 
She racked up four First Team all-conference awards (two in the Atlantic East and two in the United East) plus six Offensive Player of the Week awards (three in each conference), including two this season in the United East on Sept. 8 and Oct. 13.
 
This season, Ziegler ranked second in the United East with team-bests of 15 goals, eight assists, and 38 points while tying for third with four game-winning goals. She sat 31st in Division III with 2.05 points per game and 36th with 0.84 goals per game.
 
The 2025 campaign ended with St. Mary's College making its third straight (third overall) appearance in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship Tournament. The Seahawks claimed both the United East regular-season and tournament championship titles for the second consecutive season. Additionally, SMCM recorded its fifth straight undefeated conference record, going 26-0 over the past five league regular seasons.
