St. Mary's City, MD-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Basketball Team (17-7) hosted Valley Forge (4-18) for their last home regular season contest of the season in United East Conference play. The Seahawks defeated the Patriots 77-53. Sam Blaylock also etched her name in the St. Mary's College of Maryland history books, scoring the 1000th point of her career.Â

St. Mary's College led Valley Forge 22-13 after the first quarter of play. The Seahawks began the game scoring seven unanswered points, all from Tramarie Mobray. Keira Mason got in on the first quarter scoring action as well, chipping in six points. The Seahawks scored the last four points of the quarter to claim all of the momentum in their favor.Â

Halimah Hajhassan got things going for the Seahawks in the second quarter with a three pointer right out of the gates. From that point on, St. Mary's and Valley Forge played back and forth for the remainder of the quarter. The Seahawks led by 12 going into halftime. Hajhassan contributed a team high 10 points in the quarter.Â

Sam Blaylock recorded her 1000th career point to begin the third quarter off of a three pointer to extend the Seahawk lead to 17. St. Mary's kept their foot on the gas the entire period and pushed their lead to as much as 33 points. The Seahawks at one point scored 18 unanswered points that featured five different point scorers. St. Mary's led 65-35 going after three quarters.Â

The Seahawks used the fourth quarter to put the finishing touches on a 77-53 victory. Skylar Kaplan contributed a layup Olivia Liszt chipped in four points as well for St. Mary's. Their victory in this game clinched the United East Conference regular season title.Â
