St. Mary's City, MD-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Basketball Team (16-7) hosted Penn State Berks (2-19) for a United East Conference contest on senior day. The Seahawks came out on top, 72-52.

St. Mary's wasted no time jumping out to a big lead to start senior day off on the right foot. The Seahawks led 21-7 after the opening quarter and used 10 unanswered points to end the period with a 14 point lead. Sidney Shaw, Sam Blaylock, and Ji-Young Hartman all connected on three pointers in the quarter while Olivia Liszt connected on four points from the paint.Â

The second quarter proved to be more of the same for the Seahawks, as they matched their first quarter total by scoring 21 points in the second quarter as well. St. Mary's scored the first six points of the second quarter off of points from Olivia Liszt, Rayna Miller, and Skylar Kaplan. The Seahawks continued to use a balanced attack offensively throughout the quarter. Halimah Hajhassan was a big factor for St. Mary's, chipping in six points and helping the Seahawks grow a 42-16 halt time lead.Â

Penn State Berks began to get things going offensively to start the new half. The Seahawks and Lions went shot for shot throughout the majority of the third quarter. Sam Blaylock continued her strong night from the floor, scoring 10 third quarter points that featured two made triples. The Seahawks were able to maintain a sizable lead going into the final quarter, holding a 58-36 advantage.Â

The Seahawks once again scored the first six points of the quarter, this time getting baskets from Keira Mason, Marley Saunders, and Sam Blaylock. St. Mary's was able to keep the Lions from scoring for almost half of the final quarter. Penn State Berks began to find a little momentum to end the game, but it was far little too late. The Seahawks cruised to a 72-52 victory.Â
