Broder Conley netted both the game-tying and game-winning goals in the final 39 seconds of the game.
Preis entered today's game tied with
Jude Brown '22, who finished his career with a program-best 136 assists. With his first assist of the game in the fourth quarter, Preis broke the tie and overtook Brown as the all-time assists leader. Preis finished the game with two helpers and now has 138 career dimes.
How It Happened
- The game witnessed five lead changes and featured runs by both teams.
- The Seahawks used a 4-1 run over a 12-minute span to stake a 9-7 lead with 7:50 remaining in the game. Senior attackman Aiden Doyle (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) notched three goals in the run, including a man-up goal at 7:50 to establish a two-goal advantage.
- Davis Mack pulled the Tigers within one at 2:38 before Conley worked his magic, tying the game at nine-all with 39 seconds to go and scoring the game-winner with two ticks on the clock.
- Hampden-Sydney opened the game with three straight goals before SMCM responded with four in a row to win the first quarter, 4-3, behind a Preis hat trick.
- The hosts tallied the only goal of the second period and the two teams headed into halftime knotted at four.
- In the third frame, the two sides alternated goals, but Doyle scored the final goal of the quarter, sparking St. Mary's College's 4-1 run which gave them a 9-7 edge.

- Junior Matteo Ciccarello (Crofton, Md./Arundel) went 10-of-21 at X with three ground balls.
- Senior Cullen McKay (Urbana, Md./Urbana) collected a season-best 13 saves as McKay registered his third straight double-digit save performance.
Hampden-Sydney Game Notes
- The Tigers, who received votes in this week's USILA Division III Coaches Poll, picked up their third straight win after opening 2025 with a loss.
- Conley ended the game with a three-goal hat trick while Mack chipped in two goals and an assist.
- In goal, Will Palmer came up with nine stops for the win.
