GRANTHAM, Pa. – Career performances by seniors
Aiden Doyle (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) and
Jake Levey (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) propelled the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team to a dominant rebound win Wednesday night (Mar. 12). St. Mary's College (4-3) posted a 26-10 non-conference road win over Messiah University (1-5).
How It Happened
- The Seahawks won the first quarter, 6-2, opening the contest with a 4-1 run behind two Levey goals.
- The second frame went to SMCM, 7-4, following a 4-2 start by the visitors. Doyle led St. Mary's College to a 13-6 halftime lead with a three-goal hat trick in the period.
- The Seahawks put the game out of reach by taking the third stanza by an 8-2 margin as Levey and sophomore Declan Horton (University Park, Md./DeMatha) each found the back of the net twice.
- Doyle and senior captain Nate Hochrein (Baltimore, Md./Towson) each scored twice to fuel SMCM's 5-2 push in the fourth quarter.

- St. Mary's College outshot the Falcons, 63-43 and gained a 62-33 advantage in ground balls behind a game- and season-best 15 ground balls from junior Matteo Ciccarello (Crofton, Md./Arundel).
- The Seahawks went 28-of-39 at X as Ciccarello won 26-of-36 face-offs. The 26 face-off wins are a season-high for Ciccarello.
- The SMCM defense shutdown all three of Messiah's extra-man opportunities while the Seahawks were 2-for-5.

- Levey put up career-bests of five goals and six points while adding a ground ball.
- Horton contributed four goals and an assist while Hochrein tallied season-bests of three goals, five points, and two ground balls.
- Sophomore Gavin McKay (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) notched his points of the season with a career-best three goals for his first career hat trick.
- Senior defenseman Jeremy Heath (Chester, Md./Kent Island) paced the defense with a career-best six ground balls and a caused turnover.
- Senior Cullen McKay (Urbana, Md./Urbana) tallied nine stops through the first three quarters of the game. Sophomore Ty Grove (Finksburg, Md./Saint John's Catholic) made three stops and scooped up a ground ball in 9:25 minutes of relief while first-year Ty Spencer (Hanover, Md./Indian Creek) picked up a season-best four saves over the final 5:35.
Messiah Game Notes
- Bobby Berg paced the Falcons with three goals and two assists plus four ground balls.
- Jourdain Algarin finished with six saves in 40 minutes of action as Messiah lost its fifth straight.
