Hampden-Sydney, VA-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Baseball Team (0-8) traveled to Hampden-Sydney (7-9) for a mid-week double header. The Seahawks dropped game one 4-2 and fell in game two 10-2.Â
How It Happened (Game 1)

The Tigers scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the third to make it a 1-0 ball game. The Seahawks responded the next inning to tie the game on one after George Berbakos scored on a throw attempt to second. Berbakos was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning.Â

Hampden Sydney scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-1 lead.Â

Ian Walters led off the top of the seventh inning with a lead off hit. Avery Sims singled the next at bat to get Walters to second. Walters went on to score from third later in the inning off of a wild pitch. Unfortunately for the Seahawks, the game ended 4-2 after seven innings of play.

How It Happened (Game 2)

The Tigers scored the first two runs of the game in the second inning to lead 2-0.Â

The Seahawks started the second game on the right note offensively, tying the game at 2-2 following the top of the third inning. Will Wilson and Aaron Wathen both singled in the inning to reach base, while Avery Sims recorded a sacrifice bunt to send Will Wilson to third. Cole Tarleton recorded an RBi single and Trevor Smith reached base on a throwing error that allowed Aaron Wathen to score from third to give the Seahawks a 2-0 lead.Â

Hampden-Sydney answered back, scoring six runs in the bottom of the fourth to recapture the lead at 8-2.Â

The Tigers added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth as they went on to win 10-2.Â

Anthony Walsh picked up the loss for the Seahawks after pitching three innings with seven earned runs given up. Ryder Chalk, Nick Russo, Ryan Matthews also pitched for the Seahawks.Â
