Seahawks Baseball Falls to Engineers in Extra Innings

St. Mary's City, MD-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Baseball Team (0-3) hosted RPI (1-2) for their first home contest of the year. The Seahawks fell to the Engineers 8-6 in a 10 inning contest.

How It Happened

  • St. Mary's trailed 3-2 after the first three innings of baseball. The Seahawks scored their two runs in the bottom of the first following an Ian Walters single that sent Cole Tarleton and Aaron Wathen home.

  • RPI went on to score three runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 6-2 lead. The Seahawks were able to respond with one run of their own in the next half inning after a Cole Tarleton sacrifice fly. Aaron Wathen scored from third after getting walked earlier in the inning.

  • St. Mary's got a huge jolt of momentum in the bottom of the six after Trevor Smith connected on a two run homer to trim the Engineer lead to one. Cole Tarleton scored along with Smith after singling earlier in the inning.

  • St. Mary's tied the game in the bottom of the eight after a clutch RBI single from Adrian Auber with two outs. Cole Tarleton scored from third after a lead off triple.

  • The game went on to extra innings where RPI scored two runs in the top of the eight. George Berbakos hit a lead off single for the Seahawks in the bottom of the tenth, but unfortunately for the Seahawks, they could never get the tying run home. RPI went on to win 8-6.
