Virginia Beach, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's outdoor track and field team headed down to Virginia Beach, Va. for the Virginia Wesleyan Spring Break Invite at the Betty S. Rogers Track & Field Center.  The Seahawks competed against Division II and III teams to start their 2025 outdoor campaign.
 
How It Happened:

• The 100 meter dash saw two Seahawks compete in the Prelims, with Chay'La Rivers leading the way in 13.25 earning a qualification to the finals.  Kayla Thomas followed after in 17.72 setting a personal record in the outdoor track and field.
• The 100 meter finals concluded with Chay'La Rivers finishing in 7^th in a time of 13.21.
• Chay'La Rivers took 5^th in the 100m Hurdles in a time of 17.73. Following just behind earning 7^th place was Rocksann Smith with a personal best in outdoor of 20.38. Taking 9^th place was Dina Jones in 22.05.
• Dami Akinsanya led five Seahawks in the 200 meter dash in a finish of 29.69, a personal best in outdoor. Chloe Tolson followed after in 29.86. Mileah Cotton, Grace Hountangni, and Kayla Thomas rounded out the Seahawks earning their outdoor debuts in 30.30, 34.25, and 38.59 respectively.
• Three Seahawks competed in the 400 meter event led by Mileah Cotton earning 6^th with a time of 1:07.17 and personal best. Chloe Tolson finished behind in 8^th place in a time of 1:07.35 Grace Hountangni finished in 1:19.06 and personal record.
• Dina Jones competed in the 400m Hurdles, earning 6^th in a time of 1:27.04.
• The 800 meter run saw two Seahawks, led by Avery Arizzi in 6^th with a time of 2:36.93. Rocksann Smith followed after with a personal outdoor best of 2:57.44.
• Macy Woroniecki earned 6^th in the Women's 1500 meter in a time of 5:18.81, earning an outdoor debut.  Ella Mitchell finished just behind in 8^th place also setting a personal outdoor best of 5:25.22. Alexis Hodges rounded out the Seahawks in 6:36.89.
• Ellie Geiger took on the 3k Steeple Run, earning a 2^nd place finish in 15:09.92, setting a personal best.
• Madison Kingsley ran for the Seahawks in the 5000m event. Kingsley finished in 4^th in a time of 22:23.08.
• Rocksann Smith competed in the High Jump, finishing in 4^th with a height of 1.48 meters and a personal outdoor best.
• One of three Seahawks placed in the finals in the Shot Put event, led by 2^nd place finish Jillian Zukley with a throw of 11.45 meters on the fifth of six attempts. Fladaina Bruno earned a personal record with a throw of 8.64m. Jessica Satz finished out the Seahawks with a personal outdoor best of 7.59m.
• Safi Stimely earned a personal best in the Discus Throw with a throw of 34.08 meters (111' 9") on the third throw of six attempts. Jillian Zukley, Fladaina Bruno, and Jessica Satz finished in the prelims with throws of 21.83m, 21.10m, and 16.89m respectively.
• Three Seahawks competed in the Hammer Throw. Jillian Zukley threw 36.36m. Fladaina Bruno threw a personal record of 33.43m. Safi Stimley finished with 27.04m.
• Rocksann Smith threw a St. Mary's School Record-over a 15 meter difference from the previous record-with a throw of 35.98m in the Javelin Throw and earned a 1^st place finish and meeting the AARTFC Qualifying Standard. Jessica Satz followed behind with a personal best of 16.50m.
