St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team hosted Notre Dame of Maryland University today for the second United East conference match of the season. The Seahawks dominated play against the Gators, sweeping the scorecard 7-0. This moves the Seahawks to a 6-4 record for the 2024-25 season.
How It Happened:
Doubles
- Cleo Solomon (Waldorf, Md./ North Point) and Amber Manspeaker (Finksburg, Md./ Westminster) competed in the No. 1 position for the Seahawks. Solomon and Manspeaker won with a score of 6-1, allowing the only point scored for the Gators on the day.
- Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md./ Richard Montgomery) and Giselle Harris (Easton, Md./ Easton) won their match 6-0 in the No. 2 doubles tandem.
- Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./ La Plata) and Stella Manns (White Hall, Md./North Harford) finished the doubles sweep in the No. 3 spot, winning 6-0.
Singles
- Cleo Solomon (Waldorf, Md./ North Point) comfortably won the match in two sets in the No. 1 singles match, winning 6-0 both sets.
- Amber Manspeaker (Finksburg, Md./ Westminster) competed in the No. 2 spot, winning in two sets 6-0 for both sets.
- Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md./ Richard Montgomery) won in two sets in the No. 3 match. Levit defeated the Gators 6-0 both sets.
- Giselle Harris (Easton, Md./ Easton) in the No. 4 matchup came out on top. Harris won in two sets 6-0 for both.
- Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./ La Plata) decisively won in the No. 5 matchup, winning 6-0 in both sets.
- Zoe Wilson (Clarksburg, Md./ Academy of the Holy Cross) concluded the sweep in the No. 6 position in two sets. Wilson beat the Gators 6-0 in both.
