Harris Rallies for Close Win Against Penn State Harrisburg

St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team hosted Penn State Harrisburg for the third United East conference matchup this spring.  The Seahawks came back from a deficit to win the scorecard 4-3 against the Lions, moving the Seahawks to (7-4) on the season.
 
How It Happened:
Doubles
  • Cleo Solomon (Waldorf, Md./ North Point) and Amber Manspeaker (Finksburg, Md./ Westminster) competed in the No. 1 position for the Seahawks. Solomon and Manspeaker won with a score of 7-5 win-by-two.
  • Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md./ Richard Montgomery) and Giselle Harris (Easton, Md./ Easton) dropped their match 6-1 in the No. 2 doubles tandem.
  • Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./ La Plata) and Stella Manns (White Hall, Md./North Harford) lost the doubles point in order of finish in the No. 3 duo, falling 6-3 to the Lions.
Singles 
  • Cleo Solomon (Waldorf, Md./ North Point) won the match in two sets in the No. 1 singles match, winning 6-2, 6-4.
  • Amber Manspeaker (Finksburg, Md./ Westminster) competed in the No. 2 spot, winning in three sets.  Manspeaker dropped the first set 6-2, then came back to win the next two sets 6-3, 6-1.
  • Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md./ Richard Montgomery) fell in the No. 3 match. Levit fell 6-1 in the first set, the dropped the second set 3-0 on default.
  • Giselle Harris (Easton, Md./ Easton) in the No. 4 matchup battled to the top for the Seahawks to win against the Lions, in order of finish this match concluded the day. Harris lost the first set 7-6 in back-and-forth action, then dropped the tiebreak 7-3. Harris rallied back, winning sets two and three 6-4 each, leading to the Seahawks team win.
  • Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md./ La Plata) lost in the No. 5 matchup, falling 7-6 in the first set after a 7-2 loss in the tiebreak, then falling in the second set 6-2.
  • Zoe Wilson (Clarksburg, Md./ Academy of the Holy Cross) competed in the No. 6 position, winning in two sets.  Wilson beat the Lions 6-1, 6-0.
