ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team saw their three-game win streak snapped Sunday afternoon (March 30) as St. Mary's College (6-4) dropped a 19-5 decision to No. 14 University of Lynchburg (5-4).
How It Happened
- Lynchburg rattled off eight straight to lead 8-0 after 15 minutes of action.
- Senior captain Nate Hochrein (Baltimore, Md./Towson) put the Seahawks on the board three minutes into the second quarter with the first goal of the frame. The Hornets tacked on four more before Hochrein found the back of the net once again to send SMCM into halftime down 12-2.
- Jake Rust scored back-to-back goals 10 minutes into the third period to stretch the UL lead to 12 with 3:58 left in the stanza. Senior attackman Keegan Preis (Upper Falls, Md./Loyola Blakefield) picked up the third for St. Mary's College with 56 seconds to go.
- Lynchburg stretched its lead to 15 with four goals in a row to open the fourth quarter. Senior attackman Aiden Doyle (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) and sophomore Declan Horton (University Park, Md./DeMatha) scored consecutive goals as Preis assisted on both to make it 18-5 with 2:46 remaining.

- Junior Matteo Ciccarello (Crofton, Md./Arundel) won 10 face-offs and scooped up a team-best four ground balls.
- Junior defenseman Cooper Dunwoody (Davidsonville, Md./Sherwood) led the defense with a career-best two caused turnovers while chipping in a loose ball pickup.
- Junior Ty Grove (Finksburg, Md./Saint John's Catholic) made a season-best six stops in 49 minutes of relief.
Lynchburg Game Notes
- Rust and Riley Hastings each tallied three goals and two assists to lead the Hornets in their third consecutive win.
- Andrew Miller came up with 16 saves plus a goal and an assist in 50:15 minutes of action.
