ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team stumbled in non-conference action Saturday afternoon (Mar. 8). St. Mary's College (3-3) dropped a 14-6 decision to Elizabethtown College (2-2) in its first game at the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium since Feb. 9.
How It Happened
- Eight goals were scored in the first quarter as the Seahawks opened the game with a 4-1 lead at 10:16 behind two goals from sophomore attackman Blane Dail (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) and two assists from senior attackman Keegan Preis (Upper Falls, Md./Loyola Blakefield).
- The Blue Jays responded with an 8-0 run, including three in a span of 1:27 to end the first period, to stake their first lead of the game, a 9-4 margin with 7:48 remaining in the third quarter. The Etown defense kept the hosts off the scoreboard for nearly 28 minutes before senior attackman Aiden Doyle (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) ended the scoreless drought 36 seconds after Elizabethtown's ninth goal of the game.
- The visitors closed out the game with a 5-1 run to secure their second win of the season.

- St. Mary's College edged the Blue Jays in shots, 38-37 and notched a +1-turnover margin (18-19).
- The Seahawks also earned a 29-22 advantage in ground balls while junior Matteo Ciccarello (Crofton, Md./Arundel) went 13-for-19 at X to give SMCM a 15-for-22 margin in face-offs.
- Elizabethtown converted two of its three extra-man opportunities (EMOs) while the Blue Jay defense posted a man-down defense of .750, holding SMCM to just one goal in four EMOs.

- Ciccarello scooped up a game-best nine ground balls while junior defenseman Joe Szymanski (Easton, Md./Easton) picked up six loose balls and caused a career-best five turnovers.
- Senior Cullen McKay (Urbana, Md./Urbana) tallied four saves in 45:53 of action while sophomore Ty Grove (Finksburg, Md./Saint John's Catholic) made three stops and scooped up two ground balls in relief.
Elizabethtown Game Notes
- Tristan Coleman had himself a game with three goals and three assists while Finn Kristan scored three times.
- Brayden Franey was a force in goal, coming up with 19 saves.
