Declan Horton (University Park, Md./DeMatha) picked up his 100th career point Saturday afternoon as the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team took on Head Coach
Jason Childs' alma mater, No. 17 Dickinson College. St. Mary's College (7-5) gave the visiting Red Devils (8-5) a run for their money with a late run in the fourth quarter, pulling within two with 5:32 left in regulation. However, Dickinson was able to hold on for a 14-11 non-conference victory.
Horton came into today's game needing two points for his 100th career point and he finished the game with a five-point performance, notching the milestone with his first assist of the game in the second quarter.
How It Happened
- Dickinson claimed the first lead of the game with a man-up goal by Blake Resnick just 2:34 into the game. The Seahawks staked their first lead with 6:11 to go in the first period with a pair of unassisted goals by senior attackman Keegan Preis (Upper Falls, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and Horton.
- The lead switched again as the Red Devils scored three in a row, including a pair from Landen Hyatt, to lead 4-2 with 9:02 left in the second quarter. Senior attackman Aiden Doyle (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) struck twice in a 1:16-minute span to knot the contest with 1:51 remaining in the first half.
- The visitors headed into halftime with a 6-4 margin as Luke Whalen scored two consecutive goals in 40 seconds.
- Horton cut Dickinson's lead in half just 32 seconds into the third frame. The Red Devils responded with a 7-0 run for a 13-5 advantage with 12:37 left in the game.
- SMCM continued to fight and strung together six goals in a row over the next seven minutes to close the gap to 13-11. Owen Porter stopped the bleeding with an unassisted goal with 3:58 left.
- Rocco Bognet stood strong in goal for the Red Devils, stopping St. Mary's College twice to preserve Dickinson's three-goal win.

- Sophomore Ty Grove (Finksburg, Md./Saint John's Catholic) made a season-best nine saves.
Dickinson Game Notes
- Hyatt and Whalen both ended the game with four goals while Ramsey Huggins chipped in three goals and two assists.
- Bognet finished with nine stops as the Red Devils returned to the win column.
