Williamstown, MA. – Two select members of the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's outdoor track and field team travelled to Williamstown, MA. to compete at the AARTFC Outdoor Championships hosted by Williams College for the two-day event. The Seahawks faced off against 55 other institutions, setting three St. Mary's school records along the way.
How It Happened:
Heptathlon –
Rocksann Smith (4094 points)
- Smith earned a St. Mary's school record and personal best in the 200-meter event, finishing with a time of 26.64 racing in the 2nd heat for 742 points.
- Smith finished the 800m in 2:37.77 for 599 points.
- The 100m Hurdles had a 16.71 finish for 630 points, racing in the 2nd heat.
- Smith placed 9th in the High Jump with a height of 1.44m for 555 points.
- The Long Jump saw a 4.67m jump on both the second and third attempt of three tries, finishing with 472 points.
- Smith finished 7th in the Shot Put, throwing for a distance of 9.16m on the second attempt of three tries, earning 475 points.
- Smith set a St. Mary's school record and personal best in the Javelin Throw event, throwing a distance of 37.59 meters on the third attempt of three tries, and earning a 1st place finish for 621 points.
- Smith combined for a total of 4094 points, setting a St. Mary's school record for the Heptathlon.
Hammer Throw –
Jillian Zukley
- Zukley competed at the women's Hammer Throw finals event, throwing a distance of 39.66 meters on the third attempt.
Javelin Throw –
Rocksann Smith
- Smith competed in the women's Javelin Throw finals, throwing a distance of 29.71 meters on the third attempt of three tries.
