NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) named 383 schools across Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA as 2025 IWLCA Academic Honor Squads Tuesday (July 22). In addition, the IWLCA honored 1,284 student-athletes from 201 different institutions with a spot on the IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll.
 
The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team garnered their 13th consecutive Academic Honor Squad distinction while five Seahawks were named to the Academic Honor Roll. St. Mary's College and Bryn Athyn College both represented the United East Conference as Academic Honor Squads.
 
To qualify for the prestigious Academic Honor Squad award, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.
 
The Seahawks tallied a 3.395 team GPA during the 2024-25 academic year for its 16th Academic Honor Squad recognition in 18 years. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the IWLCA did not name Academic Honor Squads in 2020.
 
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
 
Hailey Betch '25 (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park), Claire Boudreau '27 (Towson, Md./Towson), Isabel Gautreaux '26 (Bel Air, Md./Delaware State), Madison Laine '25 (Kingsville, Md./Mercy), and Claire Lischinsky '27 (Gardiner, N.Y./Wallkill Senior) all represented SMCM on this year's Academic Honor Roll.
 
Laine is making her second appearance on the Academic Honor Roll while Betch and Laine also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors (June 17). All five were named to the 2025 United East Winter/Spring All-Academic Team.
 
St. Mary's College (10-8, 4-0 UEC) collected its fourth straight United East championship tournament title to earn its 12th bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament, bowing out in the first round. The Seahawks earned their fourth consecutive conference regular-season championship crown with their fourth undefeated season in a row.
