SALISBURY, Md. – Sophomore forward
Nick Haney's (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Northern) lone goal Saturday afternoon (Aug. 30) gave the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team their second straight win. St. Mary's College (2-0) remained undefeated with a 1-0 triumph over York College of Pennsylvania (0-1-1).
How It Happened
- The Seahawks jumped on the scoreboard at 15:07 as Haney's free kick, from just outside the penalty box, rose above the York wall and slipped in under the crossbar.
- Defense was the name of the game from that point on as SMCM protected its one-goal lead for the next 85 minutes.
- Junior goalkeeper Jordon Eckman (Fallston, Md./Loyola Blakefield) matched his career high of nine saves, including making six second-half stops as Eckman faced 11 Spartan shots and eight YCP corner kicks over the final 45 minutes.

- York edged St. Mary's College, 17-14 in shots, including a 9-5 margin in shots on goal.
- The Spartans also shut out the Seahawks in corner kicks, 10-0.
