ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team snapped a 28-game skid against Johns Hopkins University Wednesday night (Sept. 10). In the 29th all-time meeting between the two sides, St. Mary's College (2-3-1) came away with a result against Hopkins (2-2-1) that wasn't a loss, tying the visitors, 3-3, in non-conference action.
How It Happened
- The Seahawks landed on the scoreboard in the second minute as junior midfielder Braden Kindred (Olney, Md./Sherwood) slotted a cross from the left side across and sophomore forward William Marbray (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) ran onto it for his first goal of the season.
- Five minutes later, SMCM went up 2-0 as sophomore forward Nick Haney (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Northern) chipped in a goal into the top right corner.
- The Blue Jays got one back in the 23rd minute when Brendan Listzwan slipped a short pass through a scramble in front of the goal to an open Jackson Shapiro, who just tapped it in.
- Listzwan collected his second assist of the night when he sent a pass to the penalty spot and Juan Bruzzone one-timed his shot to knot the game at 2-2 heading into halftime.
- JHU claimed its first lead of the game a mere 49 seconds into the second half when Scotty Coleman and Alex Gardner worked a give-and-go for a 3-2 advantage.
- Senior captain Jack Nelson (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) denied Johns Hopkins a 29th consecutive win over St. Mary's College with his first goal of the season in the 71st minute, finishing off a pass from Kindred right in front of the goal.

- The Blue Jays, who are ranked sixth in Region V, registered a 19-9 shot advantage, including a 9-5 shots on goal edge.
- JHU also posted a 14-4 margin in corner kicks.
