Seahawks Push Randolph to Five Sets in Road Battle

Lynchburg, Va. – September 23, 2025 – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's volleyball team (5-7) mounted a strong comeback after dropping the first two sets but ultimately fell in five to Randolph College (5-9) on Tuesday night at the Frances and Don Giles Gymnasium. The Wildcats edged the Seahawks by scores of 25-16, 25-15, 16-25, 19-25, 15-12.

After a slow start, the Seahawks came alive in the third, hitting an impressive .484 with 17 kills and just two errors. St. Mary's carried that momentum into the fourth, forcing a decisive fifth set, but Randolph held on late to secure the non-conference win.

Maya Mauro led the way with a team-high 13 kills, adding seven digs and 14 points. Hope Parrish tallied nine kills on a .269 hitting clip, while Erianna Mendieta matched her with nine kills and a team-best 13 digs. Vlada Costenco was efficient at the net with seven kills (.333), and Sanaa Porter chipped in five kills and three blocks.

In the setting rotation, Lauren Panageotou posted 18 assists and eight digs, while Arielle Lubeck recorded a double-double with 16 assists and 11 digs. Defensively, Elizabeth Childs anchored the back row with 14 digs.

Randolph was paced by Brooklyn Finnerty with 13 kills on a .462 hitting percentage, while Kelsey Bowler added 11 kills. Kailee Turner finished with 31 assists and nine points for the Wildcats.

St. Mary's is back in action this Thursday, September 25, when they host Washington College at 7:00 p.m. inside the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena.
